Thesis Title: The Nature of Object Representation for Visual Attentional Processing

John Andersen
John Holden

About

I investigate ways promote transportation safety by implementing cognitive theories in an applied research setting. Specifically, my goal is to use my knowledge of attentional and visual mechanisms to guide the design of transportation systems, investigate aspects of human performance on major transportation accidents, and to examine new developments that affect human performance factors.

Over the fall of 2009, I worked on a fellowship at the National Academy of Sciences to integrate my interests in science and policy.  I work with the Committee of Human Systems Integration.

Specialties:
Visual perception, attention, cognition, decision making, design, human performance, eye tracking, driving, dual task performance, human factors, applied experimental psychology, cognitive engineering
